About
The Cerrado Mineiro is a high-plain savanna in western Minas Gerais with a long, dry harvest season — ideal conditions for growing sweet, chocolaty, and full-bodied naturally processed coffees. The region is also a pioneer: in 2013, it became Brazil’s first coffee region to earn Denomination of Origin status. The Cerrado Mineiro Region The scale here is remarkable. The region spans more than 210,000 hectares across 55 municipalities, where roughly 4,500 producers grow about five million bags of coffee each year. Elevations range from 800 to 1,300 meters. Meanwhile, the well-defined seasons do the real magic: rainy summers ripen the cherries, and the long, dry winters let them dry slowly and evenly. Growers here also invest heavily in technology and quality research, which shows in the cup. Consequently, the Cerrado Mineiro has become Brazil’s benchmark for consistent, naturally processed coffee — and the region behind several of our Cerrado Award-winning microlots . What’s in the Cup Expect caramel, chocolate, and nutty flavors, balanced by a mild citric acidity and a full body. The sweetness runs deep, while the finish stays smooth and satisfying. In short, this is classic Brazil in a cup — comforting, generous, and endlessly drinkable. It makes an excellent everyday drip, a rich French press, and a nutty, chocolate-forward espresso that loves milk. Iced or cold brew, it keeps its chocolate depth without turning bitter. For filter brewing, start with a 1:16 ratio and adjust to taste.
