What does "tazzina" mean?

Tazzina (tah-TSEE-nah) is Italian for the small espresso cup you drink from.

What is Tazzina?

Tazzina is an iPhone app for home coffee enthusiasts. Save a recipe for every bean and brewer you use, whether that's espresso, pour-over, immersion, or stovetop, get dial-in suggestions from others brewing the same beans, and everything you need for your coffee workflow.

Is Tazzina free?

Yes. Tazzina is completely free to download and use. Every feature is included at no cost.

Why do I need to sign in with Apple?

The bean and recipe database is crowdsourced. An account identifier prevents spam and keeps the data clean for everyone.

What data do you collect?

When you sign in with Apple, only your email (real or Apple relay) and name are collected. The name exists solely for support, to identify your account if you reach out.

Beyond that, Tazzina collects anonymized analytics to improve the product. Nothing personally identifiable is sent, just things like "button X was tapped." No data is sold and no ad trackers are used. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Are my photos used for anything?

Photos you upload are stored securely and tied to your account. They are used solely to operate the app and are not used in marketing, social media, or any promotional materials. See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for details.

How does bean scanning work?

Point your camera at a coffee bag and Tazzina tries to identify the bean. If it finds a match, you can add it to your library and start dialing in. If there's no match, you can create the bean yourself.

Why isn't scanning finding my beans?

The library is still growing. When you manually add a bean, other users can find it once it's verified, so every addition helps.

Why don't you show official coffee bag images?

Copyright. For now, you'll only see photos you upload yourself.

Which brewers can I use?

Espresso, pour-over, immersion, and stovetop, across 18 brewers in all. You pick your exact model so every recipe is tuned to it:

The Hario Switch appears under both pour-over and immersion because it brews either way.

Can I save more than one recipe for the same bean?

Yes. Pull a bag as espresso today, brew it on a V60 tomorrow, and dial it on a different grinder next week. Tazzina keeps a separate recipe for every brewer and grinder you pair with a bean, so each one holds its own grind, dose, water, and tasting notes.

Which grinders are supported?

Over 200 models and counting. You select your exact grinder so recipes use your actual dial numbers, not an abstract scale.

What happens if I use more than one grinder?

Each recipe keeps the brewer, dose, and grinder it was dialed in with. Switch to a different grinder and Tazzina saves it as a separate recipe, so your original grind setting stays intact.

What are dial-in suggestions?

When other users log recipes for the same bean, Tazzina aggregates that data and suggests starting points for grind, ratio, and temperature based on the brewer and grinder you choose. Like asking a friend who already dialed in the same bean.

How does guided dial-in work?

After a brew, tell Tazzina how it tasted and it walks you through what to change next, adjusting grind, water, or temperature one step at a time. Prefer to dial in yourself? Turn the steps off and fine-tune manually.

What are Collections?

Collections let you group beans into custom folders. Think Wishlist, Pair with Milk, Dark Roasts, or whatever works for you.

Does Tazzina work offline?

Yes. Your beans, recipes, and notes are all stored on your device. Changes sync to the cloud when you're back online.

Is there an Android version?

Not right now, and it very likely won't happen due to structural limitations.

Is there a web version?

Not yet, but it's likely coming down the road.

How do I delete my account?

From within the app, at any time. You can export your data first, then delete. Your account, photos, notes, and personal library entries will be permanently removed.

To keep community suggestions accurate, anonymized recipe parameters (grind size, dose, water) are retained but cannot be linked back to you. Bean entries you added that haven't been verified yet stay in the catalog anonymously.
