What does "tazzina" mean?

Tazzina (tah-TSEE-nah) is Italian for the small espresso cup you drink from.

What is Tazzina?

Tazzina is an iPhone app for home espresso enthusiasts. Save grind settings, track bean freshness, and get dial-in suggestions from others pulling the same beans.

Is Tazzina free?

Yes. Tazzina is completely free to download and use. Every feature is included at no cost.

Why do I need to sign in with Apple?

The bean and recipe database is crowdsourced. An account identifier prevents spam and keeps the data clean for everyone.

What data do you collect?

When you sign in with Apple, only your email (real or Apple relay) and name are collected. The name exists solely for support, to identify your account if you reach out.

Beyond that, Tazzina collects anonymized analytics to improve the product. Nothing personally identifiable is sent, just things like "button X was tapped." No data is sold and no ad trackers are used. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Are my photos used for anything?

Photos you upload are stored securely and tied to your account. They are used solely to operate the app and are not used in marketing, social media, or any promotional materials. See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for details.

How does bean scanning work?

Point your camera at a coffee bag and Tazzina tries to identify the bean. If it finds a match, you can add it to your library and start dialing in. If there's no match, you can create the bean yourself.

Why isn't scanning finding my beans?

The library is still growing. When you manually add a bean, other users can find it once it's verified, so every addition helps.

Why don't you show official coffee bag images?

Copyright. For now, you'll only see photos you upload yourself.

Which grinders are supported?

Over 200 models and counting. You select your exact grinder so recipes use your actual dial numbers, not an abstract scale.

What happens if I switch grinders?

Tazzina detects the mismatch between your recipe's grinder and your current one, and asks you to re-enter your grind settings for the new grinder.

What are dial-in suggestions?

When other users log recipes for the same bean, Tazzina aggregates that data and suggests starting points for dose, grind, and yield. Like asking a friend who already pulled the same bean.

What are Collections?

Collections let you group beans into custom folders. Think Wishlist, Pair with Milk, Dark Roasts, or whatever works for you.

Does Tazzina work offline?

Yes. Your full library, recipes, and grinder settings are stored on your device. Changes sync to the cloud when you're back online.

Is there an Android version?

Not right now, and it very likely won't happen due to structural limitations.

Is there a web version?

Not yet, but it's likely coming down the road.

How do I delete my account?

From within the app, at any time. You can export your data first, then delete. Your account, photos, notes, and personal library entries will be permanently removed.

To keep community suggestions accurate, anonymized recipe parameters (grind size, dose, yield) are retained but cannot be linked back to you. Bean entries you added that haven't been verified yet stay in the catalog anonymously.
