This app allows users to log and manage coffee beans and brewing recipes, scan coffee bags to search for beans, and receive recipe suggestions based on aggregated usage data.

We collect and process only the data necessary to provide these features and improve the product.

We do not sell personal data.
We do not use advertising tracking.
We do not track users across other apps or websites.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in using Sign in with Apple, we receive:

• A unique, app-specific identifier provided by Apple
• An email address only if you choose to share it
• Your name, as provided by Apple

This identifier is used solely to authenticate your account and associate your data with you. Your name is used to identify your account if you contact us for support.

Coffee Library & Recipes

You may create and store:

• Coffee beans in your personal library (e.g., specific roasts)
• Recipes including dose, grind size, yield, roast date, and notes
• Grinder model and modification status
• Favorites, archives, and custom lists

This content is stored securely and associated with your account.

Photos

You may upload photos (for example, of coffee bags). Photos are uploaded and stored securely on our servers, associated with your account.

We do not use your photos in marketing materials, promotional content, social media, website showcases, or any external materials. Your photos are used solely to operate the Service.

Photos are not used for advertising and are not sold.

Photos are deleted when you delete your account.

Scanning & Search

The app allows you to search for beans by scanning a coffee bag or by manual search.

When you scan a coffee bag, text recognition and classification happen entirely on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks. Images are not sent to external services for text extraction.

The photo itself is uploaded and stored on our servers as part of your bean library entry.

Extracted keywords (e.g., bean names, roaster names) may be stored on our servers to improve search accuracy for all users. These keywords are associated with the bean entry, not with your personal identity.

Aggregated Recipe Suggestions

The app aggregates recipe data across users to provide recipe suggestions.

Aggregation means:

• Individual identities are not displayed to other users.
• Public suggestions are derived from combined usage patterns.
• Personal recipe data remains associated with your account and is not publicly attributed to you.

Usage Analytics & Interaction Data

We use product analytics (via Mixpanel) to understand how features are used and improve the app.

The app is designed to avoid collecting sensitive personal information through analytics. Text entered into input fields is automatically obscured (e.g., letters replaced with asterisks) before data leaves your device.

Analytics data may include:

• Device information — device model, operating system version, screen size
• App usage statistics — session duration, screens visited, feature usage frequency
• Interaction data — taps, navigation paths, scrolls, and in-app screen activity

All analytics data is collected in pseudonymized form and may be aggregated for analysis. It is used solely for product improvement and debugging.

We do not:

• Use advertising identifiers
• Track across other apps
• Sell analytics data
• Share analytics data for marketing
• Capture text entered into input fields
• Record camera, microphone, or audio/video

3. How We Use Information

We process data to:

• Provide account authentication
• Store and sync your coffee library and recipes
• Generate aggregated recipe suggestions
• Enable scanning and search functionality
• Improve performance and feature development
• Maintain security and prevent misuse

Our legal basis under applicable data protection laws includes:

• Performance of a contract (providing the app service)
• Legitimate interest (product improvement and security)

4. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account remains active.

Analytics data is retained only as long as necessary for product improvement and debugging.

If you delete your account:

• All personal data — including library entries, photos, personal notes, favorites, collections, and account information — is permanently deleted from active systems.
• Recipe parameters (grind settings, dose, yield) are retained in anonymized form to support community recipe suggestions. This anonymized data cannot be linked back to your account.
• Bean entries you created that have not been verified are retained anonymously in the catalog.
• Backups are automatically overwritten over time.

We may delete accounts that remain inactive for an extended period.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access your data
• Export your data in a structured format
• Delete your data

You can:

• Delete your account at any time within the app
• Request a data export within the app (ZIP file containing your data in JSON format and associated photos)

6. Data Security

We use secure cloud infrastructure and encrypted connections (HTTPS).

Access to user data is restricted through server-side authentication and authorization controls.

7. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services as data processors:

• Apple Inc. — authentication via Sign in with Apple
• Mixpanel — product analytics
• Convex — cloud backend infrastructure

These providers process data only as necessary to provide their services and in accordance with their own privacy policies.

8. Changes

At our discretion, we may change this Privacy Policy to reflect updates to our processes and operations. If we decide to change this Privacy Policy, we will post the changes here at the same link by which you are accessing this Privacy Policy.

If the changes are significant, we will display a notice in the app to all our registered users with the new details and links to the updated or changed policy.
